Intense 6.6

134 kg
Rear wheel travel 15 cm
Intense, 296-9596
Maxi test November 2005

Highlights: Intense used a combination butted Easton tubing with a monocoque toptube to form the 17 cms section. To reinforce the area, the formed sheet-aluminum region at the junction of head-tube and head flares out. The head tube is larger to accept internal bearings conforming to the OnePointFive standard. However, the 3 cm diameter steerer is used. To provide maximum standover clearance, the top tube slopes dramatically. A strut supports the seat mast to prevent any flexing when the post is fully extended.

Best quote: While you won’t feel the acceleration of a cross-country racer lightweight, the Intense does the job without causing a gloomy feeling in your legs.

The bottom line: It took Intense a while to get the 6.6 right. It was definitely worth it. You won’t see the 6.6 launching off red-rock cliffs in front a hungry press. These versatile speedsters will be seen wherever there are technical trails and the fun meter is set. The Intense6.6 is a great choice for trail riders who want to try everything and go everywhere.
